Local Area Information

St Ives is famous around the world for it's amazing beauty and special light, hence the number of artists and writers that have always been drawn here. Not only that but St Ives benefits from the warmth of the gulf stream giving it a mild sub tropical climate. Porthmeor beach - in front of the house-  is an amazing, award-winning surf beach.

For the holiday maker it has the best of all worlds - surrounded by 3 beautiful blue flag beaches, but also a lively thriving town, with loads going on for all ages - whatever the weather! Whilst still retaining the charm of a working fishing village with boats bobbing in the harbour and windy cobbled streets, it also offers independent shops, cafes, artists studios, and many fine restaurants; even a lovely local cinema!

Go on a boat trip to seal island, visit Tate St Ives, the Leach Pottery or Barbara Hepworth Museum, go for a surf or a paddle board, walk along the coast path and get the beautiful branch line back, go crabbing and maybe see the seals and dolphins that regularly visit, or simply lounge on the golden sand and build sand castles!

Even out of season St Ives is buzzing. The St Ives Food Festival takes place on Porthminster Beach in May with loads of local produce and cookery demos etc. The 'St Ives September Festival' now attracts visitors from around the world and St Ives New Year is famous for the amazing fancy dress and fireworks on the beach.

If activities are your thing there are surf lessons at the wonderful St Ives Surf School on the beach, or for something more hardcore there are plenty of adrenalin sports available. On the other beaches in St Ives - Harbour Beach and Porthminster Beach -Stand-Up Paddle boarding, kayaking or sailing. There is also the beautiful South West Coast Path which passes just in front of the house.

Then for day trips around beautiful cornwall you are spoilt for choice.  From the Eden Project to the brilliant, award winning National Maritime Museum (and a sneaky trip to Rick Stein's fish and chips opposite). Or Lands End for a cheesy photo with the signpost pointing to America, or the enchanting St Michael's Mount is only 10 minutes drive away. If you're here for a bit longer you could even do a day trip to the amazing Scilly Isles (the planes leave from nearby - a real adventure!) and there are many more which we can help you with.

Boutique Beach House is ideally placed for all these things, and once here you can easily walk anywhere in St Ives. We will give you a book full of our recommendations and insider tips on everything from restaurants and beaches to things to do come rain or shine. We can advise you on the most suitable restaurants - maybe an award winning burger with the kids at Blas, or dinner on the beach in one or our 3 award winning beach cafes. We can also help you with babysitters and shopping etc

But if you just can't face any of it then why not pop the cork on the bottle of Cornwalls finest sparkling wine and lie back on a lounger and watch the ocean!
